Vancouver- and Calgary-based REC Media, a marketing agency that specializes in recreational and sports facilities, with ad opps including rinkboard panels and zamboni sponsorships, has announced its expansion into Eastern Canada with a new Toronto office and advisory board.

“More of our clients have been expressing a desire for us to do something for them nationally and we recognize a concentration of national dollars and ad campaigns are centred in Toronto,” Troy Sedgwick, president, REC Media, tells MiC.

In order to successfully break into the market, the mediaco has brought on a roster of professional heads in the industry to act as the company’s advisory board, including Andy Querin (president and COO of KB Media Inc.), Amanda Ploughman (communications consultant), Stefan Danis (CTO and CEO of Mandrake Consulting), Christophe Lecomte (consultant at CML Consulting) and David Sedgwick (principle at Alliance Pacific Group).

Another addition to the Toronto team is Andrew Mooney, who previously worked in media and marketing positions at St. Joseph’s Media, Insight Sports and Rogers Communication. Mooney has come on board as REC Media’s Eastern Canada senior sales director.

“We were looking for someone who had specific experience in both OOH and sports,” says Sedgwick. “Andrew has experience in the areas and his capabilities and personality fit with our company.”
